Top of The Tops – Choosing The Perfect Blouse, Shirt, or Tank!

Are you sick of having to try on every single top in the store when you go shopping? Well, then you have come to the right place. Indeed, in the post below, you can find out everything you need to know about picking the perfect top for you, whether that is a blouse, shirt, tank, or any other kind. Read on to find out more.

Colour

Colour and tone are often one of the first things that draw us to a garment. However, just because it’s caught your eye online or on the rack doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the right choice for you. Indeed, the colours that suit us best depend on a range of factors, including our skin tone, eye colour, and hair colour.

For example, warm undertones in their skin and darker hair and eyes will best suit tops in autumn colour like forest green and mustard. In contrast, a person with a cool undertone and lighter hair and eyes will best suit pale pink and blue.

Of course, it is always worth repeating here that rules are there to be broken, so if a garment really calls to you, I say get it and damn the consequences. Although knowing which colour season you are can, on the whole, help you make top choices that are optimal for your look.

Shape and fit

Just like certain colours suit certain skin tones, particular shapes work better on specific bodies. For example, those of us rocking a rectangle body shape can look great in halter necks, peplums, and even flowing blouses made from more flowy material. The idea is that it softens the harder corners of the body and creates a more curvy look.

In contrast, those of us with an apple shape can do well with empire line tops, V neck, and wrap around as these all help create an illusion of a waistline.

Fabric

Of course, the type of fabric tour top is made from matters a great deal as well. In particular, if you’re looking for items that will keep you cool in the summer, fabrics like linen and cotton are ideal. The reason being that they breathe.

However, if you want to stay warm, cotton and linden are a very bad choice, especially if the environment in which you live is cold and wet. Instead, look for warmer options such as cashmere or even a good quality acrylic.

Length

Finally, when choosing a top, the length will have a great deal to do with whether it becomes a firm favorite or makes its way to the back of the cupboard, never to be seen again. Indeed, there are all sorts of lengths on offer, from crop tops, which show the entire midriff, to longline tops, which go beyond the waste to cover the hips and buttocks.

Of course, the length you choose will depend on both the look you are going for and your own personal preference. Indeed what others think of your top choices should take a backseat to how you feel wearing the garment.
