Among the getaway destination in mind, Macau have always fascinated me with its deeply entrenched in rich Portuguese history through its ruins, churches, fortresses. cathedrals, heritage buildings and Museums along with their culinary traditions of its former Portuguese colonial masters, maintaining a subtle unique Mediterranean style on the China coast all connected by an intricate maze of streets, alleys and quaint squares.

At the Outdoor Observation Deck, the Tower dominates the skyline that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Macau cityscape, the Pearl River and some islands of Hong Kong on a clear day. There is also a Revolving Tower Restaurant seating 250 persons which takes 60 minutes to make one revolution. There is also theaters, shopping malls and the Skywalk X, a thrilling walking tour around the outer rim. It offers the best view of Macau and in recent years has been used for a variety of adventurous activities that includes tethered sky jump, bungee jump. Now that is some adrenaline rush for those adventurous enthusiast.

One of the interesting things to see in Macau is a statue of the Goddess of Mercy. Despite being a Chinese deity, the statue is distinctly European in design that sees a resemblance the statues of the Virgin Mary which you can find in Europe. Measuring at 20 meters tall and made of special bronze, the statue dome base like a lotus flower, is an ecumenical centre where collective information is available on Buddhism.

Not forgetting the incredible tasty part of Macau would be its culinary as it consists of a blend of Chinese and Portuguese cuisines. As a result from the spice blends that the wives of Portuguese sailors used in an attempt to replicate European dishes, variety of unique cuisines is created. The cuisine’s ingredients and seasonings include those from Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia, as well as local Chinese ingredients which sees the food is seasoned with various spices and flavours including turmeric, coconut milk, and cinnamon, giving special aromas and tastes.
