Berbuka Puasa with Hotel Equatorial Melaka Rest House

Where could be better place to Berbuka Puasa than in Equotorial Melaka? Melaka has the best selections of unique delicacies that will pique your unique taste bud. According to one of my friend Equatorial Ramadan Buffet is one of the best in Malacca town.

I am truly honor to be able to sample their buffet two weeks ago and boy I eat till I cannot stuff myself anymore food… I can’t stop taking food…. The buffet will feature 200 typical traditional home-style dishes nightly in the extensive buffet spreads and stalls with live cooking just like what one will find in the kampungs around the country. How cool is that? They have a drinking stalls to with over 5 drinks to choose from… I am quite suprised that the drinks is not overly sweet… Great my favourite is Yam Drink mmmmmm so good.

Executive Chef Dato Pari Subramanian and his team have designed special menu that will be alternated daily to showcase interesting dishes, including Daging Hitam Manis, Sop Ekor Berempah, Ayam Tomata Mahsuri Berkacang, Kambing Masak Merak, Sotong Goreng Kunyit, Nasi Bukhari, Ikan Tenggiri Masak Lemak Chili Padi. Bubur Lambuk, “We called this the Balik Kampung Fiesta because we want to create the cosy and warm feeling of eating typical home-cooked cuisine, just like the warmth of the Ramadan month,” Pari said.
Highlights include the well-liked Arabian Roasted of Whole Lamb which is served with kapsa rice and black pepper sauce and mint sauce, satay, lemang and the Hotel’s popular chicken rice, served daily, during the Ramadhan period. The lamb is my favourite among all… I cannot remember how many time I refill this.
The appetizers include kerabu kacang botol, keabu anggur dan daging, kerabu umbut pisang, salad jantung pisang, ikan masin bulu ayam, tenggiri pekasam, sambal belacan, sambal budu, kerabu mangga, cincaluk, urab kelapa & ikan keli, salad belimbing & tang hoon, just to name a few.
There will also be satay celup, assam fish and chicken rending which I find really interesting and you might not get this elsewhere. Fans of noodles can enjoy different types of serving daily ranging from mee bandung, laksa penang, laksa nyonya and clear chicken soup served with choices of noodles and condiments.

Diners can then pick between different rice dishes ranging from white steamed rice, nasi bukhari, nasi dhall lada hitam, nasi kemuli and nasi tomato berempah to suit the various dishes.
My favourite section will be the Malay & Nyonya Kuih… The colours is just too beautiful!!! I love every single kuih, not overly sweet with perfect soft and bouncy texture.
To top off the breaking-of-fast experience, diners will be serenanded by live Ghazal musicians, featuring an entertaining ensemble belting out traditional Malay tunes.
