Delicious vegan events you can expect in London this summer
2021 is a big year for veganism. More people than ever took up a Veganuary pledge this year and, according to The Guardian of the 500,000 participants, a quarter of them were from the UK. Even retail giants like Tesco made being vegan more accessible, by advertising their ranges on radio and television for the first time ever!
One of the best things about being vegan, is being able to go to events planned specifically around your diet. Even though 2021 has been another year of cancelled plans, there are still some events set to go ahead later in the year!
Sample new foods at a Vegan Market
The Vegan Market is probably considered a flagship vegan event. Despite advances from retailers in supplying a plant-based alternative to most products, there’s nowhere quite like the vegan market for new recommendations and to find supplements you just can’t get anywhere else.
These Vegan Markets are scattered throughout the year, with the closest one being on Sunday the 8th of August in Enfield. The market will run from 10.30-4, featuring up to 50 stalls. These include vegan street food, sweet treats and even craft cheese!
September is the month for Vegan markets in London. Kicking off September, Wembley hosts its Vegan Market in Market Square on Saturday the 4th. Offering up to 30 stalls of food and cosmetics, organisers are expecting to see 1400 visitors on the day!
Shortly afterwards, on the 14th of September, Portobello Vegan Night Market will take over Portobello Road. Running from 6pm until 10, the market offers beautiful vegan vibes. They even have a DJ playing a range of reggae, ska, and soul tunes.
October is the month of Vegan Live Events
The 15th of October marks the start of two Vegan Live events! Plant Based World kicks off at the Business Design Centre. The two-day conference allows visitors to network with professionals who have had successful plant-based journeys in their personal and professional lives.
Visitors are also invited to sample the newest culinary invention and test new products. Leading plant-based companies from around Europe will be attending this event, making Plant Based World a must go event, to keep up with the vastly evolving industry.
Vegans from around the county are expected to flock to the capital and stay overnight for the conference. For a central and affordable option, consider City of London hotels.
More than markets and meetings
In 2021, connecting with other vegans is more than a quick chat at a meat-free stall. Speed Dater events are putting on two events later this year.
Vegans aged 24-38 in the London area are invited to go on four-minute dates with likeminded people. It comes a no surprise that these events are becoming common practice, especially as according to The Independent, 52% of vegans wouldn’t consider dating a meat-eater.
On the 12th of August and 30th of September, head down to Be At One, Regent Street. You’re invited to make friends, as well as explore romance with people on the same page as you.
