Rise & Shine for Breakie @ Imbi Morning Market + Swimming @ Times Square

It is always hard to pull someone who don’t like to swim to visit the pool. The smart me using Hainan Coffee as a trade for a morning in the pool. Thomas, a coffee lover say that’s a DEAL!

The crowd start to build up as early as 7am at Imbi morning market.  All tables is occupied when we arrived. While waiting for the table we couldn’t stand still at one spot as the uncles will be screaming “hot coffee,  please give way” in Cantonese of course.

We finally got 2 chair and half of the table to seat on. Advised to order as fast as possible for the Ah Weng Koh Hainan Coffee else the uncle will leave to another table and it gonna take some time for the uncle to return to your table.  There are very busy all the time.

Within minutes the Hainan Coffee along with the Round Roasted Bun arrive on our table.

We can already smell the aroma of the roasted coffee bean.  The dark caramel brown color alike coffee taste more bitter compare to the normal coffee from Chinese coffee shop. But this is how i like my coffee to be, feel like very “kao”.

The Roast Round Bun is crispy on the skin, on first bite chips of the bread breaks and fall on the plate. The center filled with a thick layer of lightly salted butter along with brown kaya that melts on the bread  surface giving it more moist.

The Half Boil Egg is usual,  the soy sauce taste normal too… Perhaps the coffee is too good.

We also snack on the famous Sisters Crispy Popiah here..

Taste good but filling is on the lesser type and crunchy element is not sufficient..

Then there is this stall with big banner showing “Ah Fook Chee Cheong Fun ~ Fresh Everyday” located beside Sisters Crispy popiah

The yong tau foo here is as fresh as said on the banner.  The fish paste filling is very springy. No fishy taste at all. The chu cheong fun or rice roll is very smooth and it doesn’t break easily, very nice texture. The curry pour on top of the plate of chu cheong fun were light in texture but it’s rather spicy to me.

Only cost RM 8.00++ for this huge plate of chu cheong fun!!

By the time we complete half plate of the chu cheong fun,  our stomach has reach 90% capacity but that doesn’t stop us from picking up the fried fish head from the bowl of fish head vermicelli.

image

The fish head is juicy and fresh and the skin remain crisp even after immersed on the bland broth with overshot of the Fa Tiu Wine. We only like the fish head not the broth and not the vermicelli too.. Guess we would order the fish head alone the next visit..

They are very generous on the fish head meaty portion!!

Thanks for the tips on Imbi market. I always get so overwhelmed in markets for all of the options so I often end up eating everything or nothing as a result. Great to have a guide. ๐Ÿ™‚
