5 upcoming Footwear Trends to try

With colder weather on its way, it’s probably time to pack away your sandals and flip-flops and think about what footwear is going to take you through autumn and into winter.

When it comes to what you wear on your feet, it’s great to have a lot of choice – heels or flats, casual or smart. Shoes may be one of the last things you put on before you walk out the door, but they can complete an outfit or look completely out of place. Here’s what we think you should be buying this season:

  1. Suede trainers

The autumn/winter season is all about textures. Cosy knitwear, indulgent velvet, and versatile suede. The first thought might be a classic desert boot, but all the leading footwear brands have got suede trainers out at the moment. The material is a lot easier to clean and look after than you’d think too.

Perfect with rolled up boyfriend jeans, trainers are on the more casual side. Think first dates, Sunday brunch with friends, or dinner at your parents’.

  1. Heeled boots

A classic. Heeled boots are comfortable, reliable and look fantastic with so many outfits. What more could you want? They work with dresses and jeans, or even tailored trousers. Opt for a chunky heel if you want optimum comfort.

  1. Over the knee boots

If you want to make a statement, try over the knee boots. Michael Kors have some great options, with lace up details or different materials. With a chunky jumper dress, it’s the perfect autumn outfit. If you’re not feeling that bold, try a boot that reaches just below the knee. It’s got the same stylish effect.

  1. Detailed pumps

We all own pumps. But let’s be honest – they’re probably not our favourite shoes in the wardrobe. Pumps can be a bit boring and a safe bet when you’re not sure what else to wear.

But they’ve been getting the revamp they need recently. Think details – oversized bows, zips, studs, fringing, appliqué and so on. We’re loving all the options.

  1. Lace up brogues

The smart/casual dress code is always a tough one to master. Best described as “polished but relaxed attire,” it’s increasingly the dress code of choice in offices. But rather than rely on the traditional skirt and blouse, people are getting increasingly stylish with their take on smart/casual.

To complete any outfit with the right shoe, try a lace-up brogue. They’re smart, but definitely not frumpy. They’ll help you balance out any outfit, without the need to always wear a heel.
