Tips on how to solve wrong Air Ticket info on AirAsia

I do not know where I should begin as I am still not over it yet….. It was really a very sad and dissapointing incident…. but I thought I would share this with you guys so that you will not have to go through it as difficult as I do.

So this is what happen, we purchased air ticket through AirAsia and for some reason, I key in using my hubby english name instead of chinese name (full name according to passport). It was definitely my fault and we totally forget about it after previous trip to Singapore where we encountered the similar thing and the staff do not allowed my hubby to pass the gate. However, after going to the service desk, Thomas is allowed to pass through the gate with company of an Air Asia staff….
So last week, we only realize that we put the wrong name just the night before… So I went home feeling nervous and scared but I thought I can just go to counter to make amendment or just have the office accompany Thomas to the gate…. I did also use the AirAsia live chat to enquire about this and the staff also advise us to go to the counter to seek help…. FYI, I waited 3 hours on the live chat to speak to the staff as sometime the line will be disconnected and then I need to restart the connection and be in the queue from the start. Usually it’s an hour wait so i disconnected for 2 times hence the 3hours…..sighhh…
So I did not really sleep because I waited for the representative to response to me…. So off we go to the airport, and when we were there to check in the staff said we have to wait for the another counter to open….As our flight is the first one in the morning so it’s pretty early and most staff has not check in for work yet…. So when the staff is here we left like less than 1hour before boarding…. She told us that no they can’t change the name because China immigratian is very very strict and thus we need to buy a new ticket… The old ticket can be refunded but only for the airport tax…. (FML)…ok trying to stay calm while Thomas is very very angry at me for not checking the air ticket properly! So I ask how much is the new airticket, she replied RM800++ because it was last minute ticket…. I was like WTF!!!!!!!!!!! So expensive.. She said you could try checking online as the air ticket can be cheaper….

So I went to use my phone to try and buy the air ticket but I was nervous and I am not familiar with the phone app and did not realize the date is scroll vertically instead of horizontally… I purchase the wrong date as I was so nervous because we are about to board already and I saw the same flight no and same price at RM 200++ and so I book immediately…. Then I showed the staff so he can print the boarding pass for me…. BUTT He told me I got the wrong date!!!!!!!!!!!! I was like shocked and really don’t know what I can do to save this shit I created….. I so hate myself and seriously feel like the worst day of my life ever!!!!!

I am lost and didnt know what to do and I keep asking the staff I can’t be paying for another ticket… He then said ok we can refund the wrong ticket if we buy a new ticket right away… So we just go with paying RM 800++ … Wait the horror has not ended… So the cheapest flight is on later afternoon which means Thomas cannot fly with us!!!!!!!!! I was like whut??? For real??? I am so fucked up really….. But we have no choice… So yeah Thomas have to stay in the airport for like 10hours like an idiot….. I then check the airticket price again online and actually its still RM800++ there’s no RM200++ ticket at all….If only the staff told me earlier that the flight ticket were the same even purchase online Thomas might be able to fly with us or if staff is available at counter earlier then Thomas would have to wait for so long… Because the boarding time is too near they do not allow him to board with us!!!

Then I asked what about the return flight, the staff told me to fill up the e-form and the staff will reply to us with the changed air ticket. So, we have to run to our boarding gate as we hv less than 10minutes before departure… So I was sitting in and really feeling so bad for letting Thomas to stay alone in airport for 10 freaking hours…..

Luckily everything were fine after that, Thomas landed later in the night… So I am still very worried for the return ticket and I have not receive any email from AA yet… So I decided to go to the live chat again…. I waited for 4 hoursssss!!! but THANK GOD I WAITED!!! When I speak to the staff, he told me he just received my email and said that he would make changes on the air ticket…. I was like whut??? So if I do not contact the staff through live chat, they will never bother to change the name and will not look into my email at all…. I actually only receive email from AA staff after a few days from my departure date… So if I did not go to the live chat I would have to pay for new air ticket again!! and also make once you found anything wrong on your ticket, try to fill the e-form and then contact AA through live chat. If I did my departure ticket might not be burned and I don’t need to pay extra RM800++

So lesson learnt is that no matter what you gotto go to LIVE CHAT and make sure you speak to the staff and get it resolved even though you need wait for hours for it! but most importantly is fill up your details accurately to avoid all the complication I go through… I love flying with AA because they really provide affordable air ticket and for that everyone can FLY but I seriously hope they can increase staff in the live chat or provide dial in customer service as the live chat will always disconnect and I have to reconnect and queue from the start again!! or they should have make their staff available 24/7 for the counter desk or at least 2hours before the first flight other people will not have enough time to resolved their issues…

Alright guys, sorry for the long post but I hope this will help someone in future who might encounter the same thing I did….. Got to go to my sleep now bye guys….
