Food

When it comes to food, there are a few things to think about. You can get the party catered, and while that costs a bit, you won’t have to worry about buying and preparing everything yourself. If you want to do it yourself then great! You’ll have to be able to cater to everyone, and in many cases, there are food allergies, and for children’s parties, more fruit and less refined sugar is probably the order of the day.

Creating themed food is a lot of fun if you have friends or family that you can call in to help then do so. Before writing your food list, take a little while and scout through Pinterest to get some cool ideas and inspiration.

In most cases, it is wise to avoid nuts.

Fun

Depending on the age range of your party guests, it will make a difference in the type of activities that you are going to want to do. Younger children tend to need more guided activities. If you have a lot of space, or you have rented a location, then you have many more options. Painting t-shirts, making their own pizza, pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs and more. Having outdoor space will also be to your benefit – even more so if you have a few children.

For adult parties drinking games are usually a great option – and funny. Aside from that Who Am I, Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit and Cards Against Humanity are all really funny and great for a group.

Goodie bags for the kids, instead of having them filled with plastic bits, use them to give mini jams, slices of the celebration cake, a pack of seeds and maybe even a plant.

Photos

There are mixed opinions on the amount of time someone should be behind a phone or camera. But there is no denying that sometimes photos of a really great party or celebration bring happy feelings flooding back. If you are hoping to let people ditch the mobiles then considering something like a photo booth. They come with a lot of props, and it gives people the chance to get a range of photos.

Something super important is to try and make sure that you have fun yourself. It can be nerve-wracking and so busy when people begin to arrive, a sense of care takes over, and you might find you are off your feet topping up drinks and keeping everything on time. But, try to take a pause for a moment and enjoy the event that you have created.
