Ippudo @ Gardens Mid Valley

Ippudo Malaysia is back with their new revamped grand menu for 2016 at their Gardens outlet and we were invited to feast some of the new highlights.

Starting with some appetisers is the Peperon Edamame which is blanched edamame tossed in dried chilli, savoury salt infused with the garlic stir fried and olive oil with Japanese seven spice. It would serve as a savoury starter to kick start the meal. We really love this new way of preparing the edamame, will definitely reorder this.

Peperon Edamame – RM 9.00

Hakata Hitokuchi Nigiri, rice infused in house char siew sauce along with char siew cubes and serve on the seaweed along sliced basil topped with mentaiko. Decent bite size and a hint of the sauce evident in the bite. It feels like eating Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaves, in this case lotus leave is replace with seaweed.

Hakata Hitokuchi Nigiri – RM 14.00 (4 pcs)

Soft Shell Crab Bun, Soft Shell Crab is deep fried while the texture is juicy, and the taste is sealed in thus making every bite excretes tasty. The crispy exterior is laced with teriyaki sauce and mayo which is served in the soft bun. Tasty and would appeal to many.

Soft Shell Crab Bun – RM 10.00

IPPUDO TakoyakiClassic Japanese favourite octopus dumplings served with takoyaki sauce. The texture is crisp on the outer, soft texture with the octopus. Reckon it fare slightly better than of the normal tako.

IPPUDO Takoyaki – RM 14.00

Salmon Foil Yaki, Spicy ponzu served with steamed salmon and assorted vegetables. The mixture chili and ponzu had envelop the overall taste which might go well over some drinks. Serving salmon fish head portion, the bones is scattered everywhere definitely not children friendly.

Salmon Foil Yaki – RM 20.00

The highlight of the evening is their new ramen, Karaka Men. Comes in 3 different type of spicy level, it’s certainly a good try to have all level. Ippudo original tonkotsu broth served with special spicy miso that gives the distinct aroma of spice with cashew nuts and ground pork. The blend of tangy ramen with the thin slice pork complements the dish in every bite though the spicy level 3 is tad spicy from the level 1. The spiciness is not full bodied, its like hitting on first sip but it will then disappear… So even for someone who dont take spicy food, this spicy level is still bearable even for level 3.

Karaka-Men – RM 27.90 (Spicy Level 1)
Karaka-Men – RM 27.90 (Spicy Level 3)

Time for some dessert. Serving in their Ice-cream Bun, a combination of Vanilla and Green Tea Ice cream served with deep fried buns. Excellent to cool the taste bud after such adventurous taste exploration.

Ice Cream Bun – RM 12.90

New menu, new taste and whole new experience. Thanks to Ippudo Malaysia for the invite!
