How to style a Backpack

Hi guys, today I have a guest writer, her name is Jamie Clegg. Are you a fan of Backpack??? She will be sharing with you various ways to style a backpack! Let’s jump right in!

Whether you’re still a student or a seasoned working professional, there’s a backpack to meet everyone’s needs. From casual to formal, to eclectic to minimal, backpacks are coming in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colours. According to Glamour, AW15’s new work-to-weekend bag is what they refer to as “the sophisticated backpack.” And in addition to the benefits of balancing a heavy load across your back, rather than on a single arm, it also allows for a greater range of motion when your hands are free, which is always a plus.

Referencing a backpack for the fall 2015 season that had not yet been released, Vogue even went so far as to describe the backpack purse trend as being akin to a bag that acts “more like the cleverest purse in the world than the standard bulky hallway-blocker.” And, fortunately for those who want more visuals to with the recommendations, Lyst has several pages of some of the trendiest backpacks for any season. With those notions in mind, let’s take a look at some of the best backpack options for every occasion.
Minkoff Backpack

The bohemian trend is hot and doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. Take this Rebecca Minkoff backpack for example. With supple leather, earthy tan tones, and hippie-like fringe, this bag really epitomises the often eccentric styling trend. It has plenty of storage room, with lots of little pockets to keep your odds and ends organised. The tasseled tote pictured would be an excellent everyday backpack for running errands, carting around toddlers, or when you’re in need of a great little carry-on bag for your next trip.
Posen Backpack
The Zach Posen shoulder bag-turned-backpack purse is a more sophisticated, professional, and transformable version of the laid-back bag. This eggplant bag is different from casual bags due to the structural aspects, smaller size, and even carrying options. This means you can easily carry this piece to work, even in office environments, without appearing unprofessional. The purple pouch would look great with typical work garb, like a crisp white button down and black slacks, but it would look equally as pretty with a dress or something more relaxed, such as jeans.

Johnson Backpack

The adorable camel and black bow-adorned backpack from Betsy Johnson is perfect for the student on the go. Ultra-girlie, but still totally fit for adults, this studded satchel is just the thing for all of your school supplies. Tote around those college textbooks in the aptly sized vessel, plus keep those pens, pencils, and calculators organised with all of the strategically placed slip-style interior pockets and the external zip pouch.

Now that you’ve seen how best to carry the trending backpack purse around during a variety of daily activities, you should have no problem incorporating this helpful and stylish tool into your wardrobe routine. When shopping for a new backpack, remember to look for the sizes, shapes, and materials that work best for you, and be sure to enjoy the new hands- and arms-free approach to living life.
