El Corazon: The Heart of Wine

After a long week of busy and hectic schedules, it’s time to relax and unwind towards the weekend. So we headed to La Bodega BSC for a light and easy session. Prominently set at the main entrance of Bangsar Shopping Centre, La Bodega BSC remains faithful to its Spanish roots offering the signature tapas and paella menu alongside a hearty breakfast spread and other popular favourites.

The entrance

With its polished timber floor, banquette seating and muted lighting, the main deck outside provides an intimate dining experience; while the open air terrace located by the water fountain and surrounded by greenery is the perfect setting for a serene and laidback time-out. La Bodega BSC is a great place to unwind after a long day in the grind, or to spend relaxing weekends out with the family in tow.

Paella in the Pan

We start off with the welcome drink: the refreshing Aperol Soda. Aperol is an aperitif made famous by its Italian makers, the Barbieri brothers in 1919. Bright orange in colour, it has a unique taste due to its infusions of selected ingredients including bitter and sweet oranges and many other herbs (including rhubarb) and roots. Although it tastes and smells much like Campari, Aperol has lesser alcohol content than Campari though both have the same sugar content. However, Aperol is milder and less bitter. Campari is also much darker in colour. A simple refreshing drink with a subtle bitter sweet from the Aperol.

Savoury and Sweet plate

The El Corazon menu is comprised of 5 well-rounded craft cocktails which is all infused with Tio Pepe Muy Fino Seco sherry, though it was recommended to begin with the sherry on its own to identify the unique taste of Tio Pepe. In addition, would allow the palate to adapt and remember the unique taste.

El Corazon’s Cocktails of Delight

Among the cocktails, my personal favourite is Garden Sprite as a combination refreshing mix of Tio Pepe, lychee liqueur, strawberries, oranges, and mint leaves which gives tinge of a zesty flavour with a subtle touch from Tio Pepe.

The Cocktails

Oceanic is a visually stunning cocktail consisting of blue curacao, orange juice and Tio Pepe, built in a tall glass creating a lovely ocean effect of blue to green. The smooth blend of the curacao with the orange juice which makes it a unique taste and complement with Tio Pepe. Now talk about into the blue and to the green bed of the ocean.
