Me Being a Plus Size!!!

This topic just run through my brain earlier while I stuck in jam and i thought hey this is a great idea to share with you my feeling for being plus size especially in Asia country!!! I am not complaining because I am grateful that I am what I am today without any disabilities and still have a job and great family and yes a lovely boyfie. I just want to share with you what i have gone through being plus size or in general being fat!

p/s: this is purely my feeling, it is not meant to pin point anyone.

Never once in my life I ever have a slim body size…not even during my school day and I was born a chubby baby too….If you are my close friend you probably heard this from me or you might have read it somewhere in this blog…. Hence, no one knows better than me how it feels to go through all the critics people put on me since young and all the hassle I gone through looking for cloth when I was a kid.

Well, if you are plus size or slightly bigger in size compare to your circle of friend probably you can relate to what I am about to write…. As a kid, whenever I go to relative house they would ask my mother did she let me eat a lot?? Why your daughter doesn’t look like you??? My mum is very slim i think she prolly size S when she is young!!! What i think is WTF why must I reduce my food portion since I am not over eating? I don’t eat a lot except buffet la (that’s the main purpose to go buffet “ to EAT it ALL” Even till now I will not, yes WILL NOT reduce my food intake just because I want to be slim!! Indulging in my food is a enjoyment in life without it, my life will be doomed!! Some people are born with low metabolism rate and that’s me which mean my system doesn’t convert the food into energy as fast as fast as other … Some girl are just lucky they born slim and no matter how much they eat the fat just grow a little!!! and yes for me getting fat is darn f**king hard but to cut down my sizes or exercise it take forever!! I know i’m a lazy bum…But hey if you think it through eating a 1 slice of cheese cake is way easier than running for a kilometres right??? yes i know those who are really thin they think eating or getting fat is hard!! They just can’t take in much food!! Sorry thin girls I still think it’s easier to eat then going exercise so yes being thin is f**king hard…and that’s like number 1 problem for all woman!!

and for that “I am fat” problem almost every slim girl tell me she is fat and she need to diet and cut down on food!! I know every girl want to look like those model in size zero but to tell me you are fat just make me want to laugh at myself!! If you are fat than what am I?? Should I just kill myself?? and then she will reply “look at my tummy!!” gah my tummy is triples yours!! SHUT UPP!

**p/s: sorry I’m not being mean to you slim girls but I heard countless phrase “I am Fat” from slim and thin girl when they are really thin!

When I was in high school my body size does affect me a lot.. I don’t much friends and you can see those pretty girls will be in a group then the nerdy one another group and me probably belong to the not so pretty group. Guys like to make fun of my size and they like to call me FAT!!! Seriously I fucking hate when people call me that!!! I know that for a fact that I am fat but pleeeasseee would you respect me as a human and call my name instead?

Another huge problem is buying cloths that suits my body size!!! Thank god now there is many Europe brand open their store in Malaysia but they are ain’t cheap (Topshop, H&M, Promod, Bershka, Dorothy Perkin and etc)!!! Yes being plus size means you need to spend extra bucks to get the size that fit you!!! When I was a kid I always wear adult cloths because kid size is too small for me!!! Size is one issue, the design and cutting is one problem too!! There is many design that I could not wear like spaghetti stripe or sleeveless dress because of my flabby arm (even thought I still wear occasionally, I use my hair to cover my arm). Those body hugging dress is not a great option for me too unless they are made of heavy and thick material!! Thick material will make one look slimmer because it will hide away the loose flesh from showing out. I love crop top a lot but most of them does not suit me because of my 5months tummy!! LOL…So I only stick to a few design that flattered my body! If you want to see more of my outfit if you happen to be plus size too you can always click my fashion tab of search #cindypluslook!!! Buying cloth in Asia is the worst like places in Thailand & China omg their sizes is so small…Out of 10 shop non is selling my size! Can you believe that???

Even though i gone through all the things i mentioned above but I still love my body as it is…. I still feel beautiful and I am proud of myself. I am glad that my friend and family love me for who I am not how I look! I am happy I still have curve!! Yeah i think I have sexy curve…. (shameless me). Just be yourself, don’t have to diet or exercise just to impress anyone! Between, I am not encouraging anyone to not exercise and continue eating without limit. In my opinion, Fat doesn’t mean not healthy but obesity is NOT healthy!!! So be Healthy & be Happy!!!

For me, I will still eat my food like normal and go for some exercise when I love to!! I don’t go exercise just to slim down but to keep my body in healthy condition. I don’t deny I will do thing to look slimmer but even being at my current size I am a happy woman but if I was born with slimmer body that will be a bonus!! For other girls who share the same luck as me here are some of the amazing quotes for you to love your body more!!

I have the same problem too when I was in school!
My mom & my sis are super stick thin while I'm the total opposite!
Seriously why school mates can be so mean to make the other feel bad?
I use to play this song by Mika- Big girl you are beautiful.
By the way you dress I think that you are a confident person that is proud of your body size.
Plus size is beautiful too! Those shallow ppl really cannot understand la! Screw them.

I commend you for being so open and honest about your experiences, and good for you! You are so beautiful, and I admire people who honestly don't care what others think. It's so inspiring! You go girl! <3 GIG

I love this post! You spoke out everything i had in mind! I've been wanting to write this kind of post for a while as well T.T. I'm hardly plus size, but i'm definitely big for Asian standard (i'm a size 8 but somehow those skinny bitches would always go "Can't beee, you must be a 10 at least") and am the biggest one in my circle of BFFs, always made a butt of the joke by guys when i was little (until now, actually) and i really want to rip their eyes out whenever i say that! It doesn't help that shop keepers likes to say "We have bigger size", "Are you looking for an L size?" or "It's free size but it can stretch a lot, see?" i know they're trying to be helpful but i find it really insulting!!! So sorry for ranting hahahah

I can totally relate to you! I was picked and verbally bullied by others when I started primary school. It got to my head and I lost my self confidence. I constantly think of what people would say about, as a result. My mom is rather petite and she too always get the same question "You never control her food intake?". My brother is so thin and tall which made people ask why we're so different ==! As a young adult, I always get comments from elders saying I should watch my food intake, don't eat this don't eat that etc… Honestly, it really annoys me.

oh yes I hate the sales girl who say that too…now i recall i hate those promoter who promote slimming product to me like pointing I am fat!!! WTF I dun need her to tell me wei…what u r size 8??that like barely M size wei…not plus size at all la babe!!!! im almost double your size!!! i think size 8 is the perfect one in the middle!!im sure you are a gorgeous lady!!!

  • Mindy

Ohhh yeahhh the evil slimming products sales, i would turn around and find other way just to avoid them! Yeah, i wear like S or M for western brands like zara, mango or forever 21, but you know how asians are.. i am also built like a swimmer, wide shoulder and all so it doesn't help! Honestly you don't look that big either please, i look at your fashion posts and you look curvy but not fat! Btw i'm one of the girls from http://www.pinkandundecided.blogspot.com and i've added you to support u!

  • cindy tong (cindysplanet.com)

oh i wont turn around..ill jus shake my head and walk away!!!ohhh i know the wide shoulder make ur body frame look wide right..i feel u…..and thanks for the kind words..u r such a sweet girl!!! let me visit ur blog and will sure follow u back!! muacks

Hey Cindy, I know exactly how you feel…it's tough being plus sized in a stick thin culture. Completely agree with you that we should love and accept ourselves the way we are. For me, the turning point was when I realised that I was unhealthy and needed a change.

I've always believed in being the best that we can be. We may not be a size 0, but at the end of the day, we should respect and give our bodies the proper nutrition/exercise it needs. Health is wealth! Stay healthy & happy, babe 😉 And if you ever need support in this area, feel free to chat with me hehe..

  • cindy tong (cindysplanet.com)

im amazed with ur journey to reduced weight…u r so determine….sometime i ask myself why im not born thin la???why i cant jus eat n the fat get burn easily….man now i feel like i wanna live in the uk where there is more people like me n i can get all the cloth i love!!!hahaha

  • Serah

Yeah.. Sometimes you'll feel like recording the answer and hit 'PLAY' when another person ask the same question. Some just don't get it that it can be due to genetics or some actual have health issues that resulted to that person being plus sized.

  • Yin Yin

i know how that feel! being a plus size myself.. I can only go to certain shop for clothes..sometimes the size is right but cutting lari habis… I'm always the biggest size among my circle of friends.. sometimes it does make me sad a bit. but after all, im 'outstanding' than anyone of them :p xx screw them lar.. we are all beautiful anyways no matter what size we are 😀

  • Miriam

I totally understand how you feel! I was born heavy as well and my mum and sis are really thin. I also have large bone structure that I practically tower over my mum as she is really petite. Ppl even commented that I was her sister or smth and not her daughter. Even in school I was the ugly duckling that couln't fit it. I don't have typical chinese genes like straight hair, white skin and so on but I have frizzy hair that looks like a mad scientist when I was younger. I hated shopping and fashion because I could never find an outfit that looks nice on me that I chose to hide behind baggy clothings. Even in uni, when my boyfie was courting me ppl keep on saying that I should be grateful that someone likes me and just accept my boyfie 🙁 I used to diet like crazy when I was younger but nothing worked. At last I learn to love myself for who I am, eat healthily and exercise regularly and now those ppl who thought I was the ugly duckling couln't even recognize me. To all girls out there! You don't need to be a size 2 to be beautiful! You ARE beautiful no matter what size you are! I've also followed and added you on my blog at huikung90.blogspot.com!

  • Yin Yin

Haha.. not only u lar.. me too still among the biggest everywhere in my friends group :/ i used to have a lot of nicks during primary/secondary school times, as i'm always the tallest n biggest in the class. sometimes those boys also kalah my size :/

  • Yin Yin

yea.. have to fork out more on clothes n shoes.. normally i'll buy in M&S, Kitschen, mng have to try on, some ok some KO becuz of the height. Shoes i'll buy from Neva(they hv shop in avenueK and sg.wang, certain designs goes to size 10, we can go together next time if u want 🙂 )crocs, fitflop . Most of my shoes i import them cuz here normally they dont have my size.

  • cindy tong (cindysplanet.com)

thats y..being plus size mean need earn more $$$ sigh…..Kitschen size so small for me..MNG sometime can sometime cant….i like M&S there are vy comfortable but not very in style…more mature..I love H&M, TopShop,Promod,Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkin(used to like them), bershka and ASOS….I nvr heard of NEva..are they expensive?…yeah sure lets have a tea time n shop together!!!!

  • Yin Yin

i totally agreed with you! we cant wear those thin material hv to always be thick. soft fabrics also no no:/ Kitschen also depends on cutting n design.H&M always cutting lari. Neva is a local brand. their shoes all made locally. so pricing not too expensive, price range ard RM89-RM200? depends on the design also. sometimes when they hv sales, is even more worth! come come,, next sat? LOL

  • Yin Yin

i'll only go payless or M&S for heels. ASOS i nv try b4. afraid later the cutting n material so-so. as i heard some said good some said no. yay! fashion shopping day!
